Guest Tutorial Writer

Hi Everyone! I am super happy to be a guest tutorial writer at SplitcoastStampers.com.  I have loved this site for about 13 years and use their tutorials and gallery all the time for inspiration, so being a part of it is just a thrill.
I was asked to share the Dappled Sky Technique.  This is a fun and EASY watercolor background that gives you really fun results.   This is the card I did for my tutorial.  I hope that you will check it out, and maybe give me some love in the comments 'cause it's my first guest spot and maybe they'll invite me back :)  Check it out by clicking the link.

And here are some other samples I made with this technique!
This is one I made this past Christmas. Instead of using the whole background, I punched out a circle for a fun winter scene.
When I made this background it said space to me.  So I made a moon to go along with it.  I made the moon by punching a circle out of watercolor paper, then getting it wet with a little Smokey Slate.  Next I flicked more Smokey Slate on top for the fun moon caters and texture.

The Weather Together set is perfect for this technique.

On this one I just made a small strip of the technique in Cherry Cobbler and Crushed Curry and then cut it out with the Tail from the Fox Builder Punch.
On this one I used Pear Pizzazz and Pool Party and used it as water.
And on this last version I used Tranquil Tide for the background, then flicked  Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist on top.

Let me know what you think!
I have another older video on my YouTube Channel that shows this technique on even more samples.  you can see it here...

Don't forget, Sale-a-Bration is going on now.  This is a great time to get those colors you don't have or some Ink Refills.  Stock up on Cardstock or get some coloring tools like the Aqua Painter and try out a new technique.  Get a FREE Sale-a-Bration product with ever $50 you spend, or a level 2 product with a $100 order.  Get even more the more you spend.  Download the Sale-a-Bration catalog on the right side of my blog. Ombre Background with the sponge brayer

Hi everyone! Today I am playing around with the new paper from the second release of Sale-a-Bration, Springtime Foils.  I just love how this paper works great with many coloring techniques. Springtime foils is great on its own, but really packs a punch when you add some color.  It is a heavier glossy cardstock with added patterns, some with gold foil, some silver, some rose gold and some with a combination of them.
I got out my sponge brayer to add this fun Ombre background, and it's really simple to do.

                                                             Check out this quick video.

The sponge brayer is $8 and comes with two handles and four sponges.   They rinse clean under water too, so you will get a lot of use out of them and can use them with all your colors.  This technique tends to work best on glossy paper.

I also used the Petal Palette bundle for my card and I really think it is a great stamp set to add to your collection.  The set is large with many sentiments to cover many occasions, and you also get those pretty images! The dies are pretty amazing too and there are dies for the stamps, but also a variety of dies to use as accents.  I show them up close in my video.
During Sale-a-Bration you get to choose a FREE item from the Sale-a-Bration catalog with a $50 order, so its a good time to buy those pricier items that you've had on your wish list.  And when you spend $100 you get more, and so on.  You can see the whole Sale-a-Bration offering by clicking here.

It's a 'Beautiful Day' with Brusho

Hi Everyone! Today I am playing with Brusho Crystal Colour! This is such a fun product. It gives a different look every time and can be used in many ways.  Today I am using it with the Beautiful Day stamp set.

For this card I used the Sheet Music background stamp first, stamped in Archival ink to withstand the water.  Then I stamped the butterflies.
Next I shook some Brusho onto the butterfly and spritzed with my Stampin' Spritzer. For this sample I then used my Aqua Painter to push the color around to fill in the wings.  On other samples further down I just let the color stay were it landed and left it, for a different look.

Here is a video showing you step by step how to make this card.

Sale-a-Bration is going on now. Spend $50 and you get to choose a FREE Level one product from the Sale-a-Bration catalog.  Spend $100 and choose two Free products from level one or one product from level two.  There are lots of great products to choose from. click the catalog on the right side of my blog to view the catalog.
